Audrey Thorstad, PhD Student, University of
Leeds
Audrey Thorstad majored in History with a minor
in Medieval and Renaissance Studies at the College of Saint Scholastica in her
hometown of Duluth, Minnesota. She moved to England to pursue a master’s degree
at the University of Leeds. Her dissertation was entitled “Anglo-Norman
Military Obligation, 950-1166”, and she is continuing her study at the
University of Leeds as a PhD student. Her thesis looks at the interaction
between late medieval/early modern castle owners and the architecture of their
residence. Her thesis will consist of a number of case studies. Besides her thesis, she stays busy with leading an
undergraduate seminar entitled, “Religion and Culture in Medieval Europe” and
working as an intern at the International Medieval Bibliography.
